Mumbai: Mumbaikars must shell out extra from Oct 1 to journey in black-and-yellow (‘kaali-peeli’) taxis and auto-rickshaws. The state Transport Division has agreed to boost the minimal fares of taxis by Rs3 and auto-rickshaws by Rs2 from that date.
The prevailing minimal fare for taxicabs is Rs 25 whereas it’s Rs 21 for auto-rickshaws. The brand new minimal fares shall be Rs 28 and Rs 23, respectively.
Anthony Quadros, chief of the Mumbai Taximen’s Union (MTU), mentioned, “The state authorities agreed for a revision within the fare of taxies and auto-rickshaws on Friday after approval from the Mumbai Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (MMRTA).”
